How to prepare your skin for makeup

How to prepare your skin for makeup

If you want to have a flawless makeup you cannot skip skin prepping.

Step by step guide by Viktoria Vlasenko click here

1. Exfoliate!

Exfoliating is essential to make your skin even and ready for makeup. By removing dead skin cells your skin will absorb moisture better so your makeup will look flawless and will last longer. You can use face scrubs but
if you have dry or sensitive skin it is better to use a mild chemical exfoliator. To make the skin completely clean after exfoliation, wipe with tonic or micellar water.

2. Moisturize and massage!

This is a step you cannot skip. If you have dry skin use an oil-based moisturizer; if you have oily skin use a light-weight gel or serum. I always recommend a moisturizer with SPF to keep your skin safe from the sun. Apply the cream with light massage movements from the middle of the face out towards the hairline.

3. Use eye cream!

The eye area needs special care. The skin around the eyes is thin and delicate and needs extra protection. I usually pick eye creams with vitamin C which protects the skin from free radicals, with vitamin K which helps to diminish puffiness and discoloration, and with coenzyme -Q10 which recharges the skin cells. Apply
the eye cream with tapping movements that help to improve micro-circulation. If you have time you can also use eye patches. They can work miracles but you need to leave them on for at least 15-20 minutes.

4. Prime!

Primer helps to smooth the skin and provides a perfect base for the foundation, helping the makeup last longer. Some primers give a natural glow, so you can use them on their own. If you have oily skin use a silicon-based primer that has a mattifying effect – it will also blur fine wrinkles and fill pores. If you have dry skin it is better to use a water-based primer with a lighter texture. If you use a water-based primer, use water-based foundation with it. The same applies to silicon-based primers that work best with silicon-based foundation.

5. Don’t forget the lips!
If you are planning to use lipstick, use lip balm before application. It will provide a smooth surface and the
lipstick will look more even on your lips. Ideally, apply lip balm before you start your makeup so it has time to absorb.
